What are the other ways for cloud seeding
The other ways for cloud seeding
But there was another scientist who was also working on cloud seeding but his perspective was completely different. He didn’t want to do cloud seedling with dry ice, he wanted to do it with the help of a chemical. His name was Dr. Berhard Vonnegut.
So, start learning about that!
So, as you know we’ve learned about the process of condensation. It is very important to have a non-gaseous surface which is solid, it means that there must be a solid or liquid surface for condensation without any surface water vapors will remain as water vapor even if it is cold as –10 degrees Celsius. So now you’ll think of a question that it is claimed in this article that condensation is happening in cold so how then water vapors convert into water without any surface in the sky so the reason behind this is, that the particles and pollens in the air work as a surface in the process of condensation while when a cloud is forming. The better the surface would be, the faster the condensation will happen. For example: as you see if there is glass in your bathroom, so, when you take shower, you may see water droplets on the mirror so that is condensation, and the glass is working as a surface. So, this was the logic of Dr. Vonnegut that if I provide better surface, condensation will happen better and quicker. So, he experimented on silver and iodide and then he found silver iodide, its property is that it can absorb a lot of moisture and is performing as a better surface and can also collect many other water vapors, so, today this type of materials is known as cloud seeds, or we can say cloud condensation nuclei. Like the experiment of Dr. Shaefer, it can also be thrown on the cloud and we can see a lot of rain.
So, slowly, slowly this technology became more advance and soon people realized that if we use planes for cloud seeding, so it is very costly so they tried to do it with cannons by placing seeds in it and when they launch a rocket, and it collides with a cloud so it will scatter the seeds.
As soon as different governments and people started to learn about it, they started to use this weather technique. In 1955, the king of Thailand started a project its name was Thailand Royal Rainmaking Project. So they one of the people to realize that they should use this technique against drought, the farmers of Thailand often faced drought so the king suggested them to use this technique and it was somewhat successful, after this many countries used this technique like India the China also used it and many ski resorts in USA used this technique for snow fall. Then Bulgaria used this technique and many other countries. This technique can also be used to reduce fog, to reduce the size of hailstones and to even stop rain or snowfall.
