What is the history of submarines?
What is a submarine? Are submarines really benefitting?
A submarine is operated under water because it is designed like this, that’s why submarine is known as the quietest warship as compared to other warships.
Basically submarines are used by militaries. They are very large in size, it can even carry about 100 people. These are used to attack ships during war time. They are very useful for militaries because they are very quieter than other warships, their sneakiness is very useful at war time. Also submarines are used in scientific researches. Because it can manage in any type of weather, it’s beneficial. It can also cost a lot, but its costs depends on the mission.
The image of submarines we have in our minds is very developed as compared to the submarines in the early times. Let’s learn about the history of submarines.
The journey of submarines from start to now.
In the year 1780 an English mathematician William Bourne
thought about building a submarine. His thought was to build a boat which is
covered with a leather shell, he thought that if it’s covered with it, it can
even be driven under the water.
In the year 1620 a scientist from Netherlands, Dr. Cornelis Drebbel built a submarine which was able to carry almost 12 people, it can be driven in 15 foot deep water. During the 17th century many people built submarines, but the submarines they all built had some problems. The first successful submarine was built by David Bush Neil, who was an American. The submarine he built could easily stay under water for a long period of time. The submarine he built was known as “The Turtle”, it was just like an egg in shape. But that submarine was capable for a single person. It has a gear which was controlled by a hand and when it was moved submarine also started to move. It also had many instruments for controlling the direction and many other controls etc. after some time submarines were also used in wars, in the World War 2 the German submarines were very powerful and were competing a lot, and they destroyed and attacked many ships. During the time many submarines were built and became faster and powerful.
