How was water supply in ancient times | Are there any harmful substances in water
Understand their actions
Water supply
In the
ancient times, a nomadic person kept moving in the search of pastures and water.
Even in present days, they kept moving with their cattle in the search of food
and water. Probably rivers and fountains were the first resource of water. Slowly,
humans started making small villages near the water. Where people used the
skulls of animals or leather bags to drink water. When these fountains and
rivers started to dry because of the continuous use of water, humans started
finding more resources for water. Finally, humans learned that there is some
water under the ground. Which can be taken out by digging a hole. And that’s
how humans reached to the water under the ground by digging big holes in the
ground. It means that humans learned to make wells. Later, humans learned new
things from which they could get a permanent resource of water, they started
making dams and started storing water. In the first cities of the earth, they
made open ponds to store rain water. And like this, when they ran out of water
present on surface they used the rain water they stored before. And till now
the areas where is deficiency of water, they use this technique.
Whether the
supply of water is on large scale or on small scale, there must be a source for
that. This source can either be a fountain, any river or a well. In the ancient
times, there were drains to supply water over long distances. While today big
pipes are used for this purpose.
