Today all of us talk about democracy, most of the countries have democracy but most of the people don’t know what democracy is, its history etc. So in this post we’ll learn what democracy is, which countries have democracy and who defined democracy for the first time ever in the history!

The first question comes what is democracy?

In the simplest words democracy can be explained like this: the government or system elected by the people. It’s like the rule by the people, people can choose anyone they want as their leader.

Where did democracy come from?

The concept of democracy came from the ancient Athens around 507 or 508 BCE. The word democracy came from the ancient Greek, dēmokratia, where dēmos means people and kratos means rule in sense it can be explained as the rule by the people as explained above.

How many countries are democratic?

Well, more than half of the countries in the world are democratic. Like almost 120+ countries are democratic.

What is corruption?

One more question comes if we’re talking about democracy “What is the difference between a Prime Minister and a President?

Well they both are chosen after election but if we talk about the difference so it depends on the government system of a country. A Prime Minister is the head of the government of a country which has a parliamentary system whereas a president is usually a head of the state that is a republic.

But countries like United States, a president in both leader of the

government and the head of the state.

What about monarchy?

An image referring to monarchy

In UK, there is both democracy and monarchy, there’s a monarch, the monarchy follows the succession, in the simplest way monarchy can be explained like this: the oldest son of the king becomes the monarch of the country, empire or a state after the death of the father, in some cases it can be a queen as well.

As you know about the UK’s monarchy, the oldest son of Queen Elizabeth II King Charles III became the monarch of UK and some other counties like Canada, Australia and some island nations with some other countries. Like this the next in line of succession is Prince William. Whereas if we talk about democracy so there's democracy as well in the UK, they conduct elections for Prime Minister and others.

Like this the countries under UK have both monarchy and democracy technically. Besides that there’re many other counties like Japan, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Belgium and some other countries who have monarchy and democracy.

Democracy should be what its meaning is. This responsibility is of people and the leaders to choose a good one and be a good one!
