New Government of Bangladesh
After the resignation of the ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed, the
Army chief of Bangladesh announced that they will form a new interim
government. Today on 8th of August 2024, the new government took
oath. The head of the state is Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who is 84 years old and is
an economist. He was awarded with the Noble Prize as well, he came from Paris
to Bangladesh and took oath on Thursday 8th august as the new head
of the state of Bangladesh.
One noticeable thing is that most of the members of the cabinet are titled advisers
not ministers. Another important thing to notice is that there were no representatives
from Awami league, Sheikh Hasina’s party.
Muhammad Yunus is chosen as the head of the state after the meeting of army officers, president and the student leaders. After the meeting, the conclusion was that students want him to be the leader.
